Sesquicentennial Fund

The Friends Texas A&M Sesquicentennial Fund

Texas A&M University is the state’s first public institution of higher education. The Texas state legislature established the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas on April 17, 1871, and instruction began on 2,416 acres of land in Brazos County in 1876.

The Friends began celebrating the University’s 150th anniversary in 2023 by establishing the Friends Texas A&M Sesquicentennial Fund in anticipation of supporting the Libraries participation in University-wide Sesquicentennial activities through preservation projects, programming, and asset acquisition.

The funding goal for the Friends Texas A&M Sesquicentennial Fund is to raise $150,000 from May 1, 2023, through April 30, 2026.  As of February 7, 2025, $125,000 has been committed to the Sesquicentennial Fund.

Thank you, in advance, for your membership and generosity as the Friends continue to support the University Libraries’ projects and programs.
